Saturday June 18th, 2011 Busti, NY: Mother Nature must have been in a racing mood on Saturday as blue sky and sunshine prevailed for the Affinity One Federal Credit Union Outlaw Cadet Special at Stateline Speedway.
Paul Nelson made it two in a row in the Spectator division after taking advantage of a late race caution
Chad Carlson waited for his opening in the thirty lap Affinity One Federal Credit Union Outlaw Cadet Special and on lap eleven leader Ryan Scott slipped opening up the bottom for Carlson.
Doug Eck became the sixth different winner in the Super Late Model division holding off a late race charge by point leader Dutch Davies for the win. Last years Champ Chris Hackett finished third coming from his eleventh starting spot.
Ben Burgess won his fourth Super Sportsman feature using the high side to pass Joe Buccola Jr. on the final lap of the event.
A first lap incident took out the race leaders collecting five other cars setting Brian Fardink on the pole. Fardink was up to the challenge leading every lap for his first win of the season.
Kyle Scott held off point leader Dennis Lunger Jr. for his first stock car win in the Crate Late Model division. Scott was just 0.2 seconds ahead of Lunger.
Dustin Lamb won the first Super Challenger feature his second of the season as did Scott Dellahoy Jr. in the second.
Doug Harvey was early leader of the Spectator feature when Cody Bliss spun on the front stretch for the first caution. On the lap three restart Jason Covey tagged the turn three wall for caution two. One lap later Dennis Asel and Brian Crandall tangled in turn four for caution three. Harvey, Lee Meyers and Sam Courson were the restart leaders. Jerry Fish drove straight into the backstretch concrete on lap seven for caution four. On the next circuit Meyers narrowly averted disaster after spinning in front of the entire field for caution five. Paul Nelson was the new leader with Crandall second and point leader Mike Moon third. At the finish it was Nelson for his second win of the season.
Ryan Scott and Chad Carlson jumped to the front of the Affinity One Federal Credit Union Outlaw Cadet Special. John Cline spun with four laps complete to bring out the first yellow flag. A two car incident with Cline and Finnerty slowed the race with five laps complete. Cline spun again two laps later. Kelly Frederes stopped in the pit entrance for caution four. Scott held on to the lead with Carlson in tow and Tyler Green third. Scott slipped up the speedway on lap eleven and Carlson was there to take advantage and the lead. Paul Himes caused the next caution after stopping in the pit entrance. Carlson began to stretch his lead and Scott had his hands full as Green tried for the runner up spot. Carlson led by five car lengths at the finish with Scott second and Green third.
Scott Johnson started on the pole of the Super Late Model feature and took the early lead. Chad Valone started second and quickly moved up along side Johnson for the lead with Doug Eck a close third. The leader continued to swap the lead with Valone up against the cushion and Johnson hugging the inside. On lap nine Valone was able to gain a slight advantage then Eck passed Johnson and using Johnsonís line passed for the lead on lap twelve. Eck moved up the speedway and began to extend his lead and point leader Dutch Davies joined Johnson and Valone for second, third and fourth. Davies took third then second as the race wound down. Davies began tracking down Eck but only five laps remained to catch the high flying Eck. Chris Hackett made it to the top three just before the two to go signal was given. Davies was able to close with Eck but ran of laps as Eck crossed the finish line 7 car lengths ahead of Davies.
Orville Echard spun on lap one of the Super Sportsman feature as pole sitter Clint Brady led. Joe Buccola Jr. led lap two. Dan Nocero Jr. passed Brady for second one lap later and began chasing Buccola. Ben Burgess Jr. started last and jointed the top three on lap six. A double spin involving Wade Watson and Jake Eller brought out the yellow just past the half way mark. Burgess used the high side to pass Nocero for second on the restart. Brady spun just before the start finish line with four laps remaining. Nocero came back to test Burgess for second on the restart but could not make the pass. Burgess again used the outside on the final lap and it worked sending him to victory lane for the fourth time this season.
Rich Michael Jr. and Greg Johnson were on the front row for the E-Mod feature. Tim Rockwell and Brian Fardink were in row two. Johnson and Michael spun on the first lap in turn four collecting five cars. Brian Fardink and Dave Shagla were the new leaders with Randy Raynor and Cale Crocker in row two. Fardink led the first green flag lap with Shagla second and Dustin Eckman third. From the tail of the field Johnson was fifth just before Joshua John caused the second caution four laps complete. Head started Mark Matthews sent Eckman to the rear of the field during the yellow. Johnsonís charge continued after the restart as he move into fourth spot then one lap later passed Crocker for third. Fardink was out in front all alone as Crocker, Shagla and Johnson fought for second. Scott Gurdak moved into the top five with original pole sitter Michael on his bumper. Crocker and Shagla held Johnson and Gurdaks attention as Fardink ran away with the lead. Fardink took the double checkers his first of the season with Crocker second, followed by Shagla and Johnson.
Justin Kreider spun with two laps complete in the Crate feature as Kyle Scott led. Bob Dorman was second after the restart but soon fell victim to Dennis Lunger Jr. Bruce Hordusky Jr. and Brian Haggerty tangled for the second yellow with five laps complete.
