Saturday June 4th, 2011 Busti, NY: Stateline Speedway managed to stay dry
as rain narrowly missed the speedway all evening. The Davies and Sons sponsored
ULMS Super Late Model Lynn Seamens Memorial was the featured event and there
were 25 drivers on hand to try for the $4,000 winners share. Dave Hess Jr.
bested the field over taking Randy Lobb on lap ten then survived several
cautions for his thirteenth career win at Stateline and his first ULMS victory.
Chris Hackett was the runner up and Dennis Lunger was third.
Keith Lamb won the first make up Super Challenger feature and Rory Houser won
the second makeup then the first scheduled feature and Scott Dellahoy won the
final one.
Paul Nelson came from his 12th starting spot to win his first
Spectator feature of the season.
Chad Carlson made it two in a row with his Outlaw Cadet win and Steve Kania
held off veteran Glen Slaney for second.
Brent Rhebergen won a time shortened E-Mod feature his second win in as many
weeks.
Steve Dixon missed a late race incident that wiped out half the field for his
first Crate Late win in 2011.
Dan Nocero Jr. led from the start for his first Super Sportsman win.
Kevin
Hill led the first lap of the Spectator feature which ended in a yellow with
three cars tangled up on the front straight. Josh Crull spun in the middle of
the pack collecting Dennis Asel and 24s. Steve Keith led lap two but a seven car
incident brought out yellow number two. Crull and Asel were involved and because
of the two yellow rule had to exit the speedway. Keith and John Britt were the
restart leaders. Two laps under green then the third yellow as Britt spun then
stopped on the edge of the speedway. Kyle Weilacher was the runner up for the
restart. Paul Nelson became the new leader on lap 7. Sam Courson spun with ten
complete for caution four. Nelson, Keith, Weilacher, Mike Moon were the restart
leaders. Weilacher lost third on lap twelve with a spin which did not bring out
a caution. At the checkers it was Nelson, Keith and Moon.
Andy
Kania and Randy Lobb were on the front row of ULMS Lynn Seamens Memorial. Jim
Mason spun into the infield on the first circuit, Lobb led with Kania second,
Rod Maloy third, Chris Hackett fourth and Dick Barton fifth. It was three wide
at past the flag stand for the restart and Maloy had troubles in turn one for
the second caution. Hackett and Barton were up a spot and Dave Hess Jr. was
fifth. Lobb elected to start off the pole but the yellow immediately followed
the green. Dutch Davies has spun into the infield at the exit of turn two. Lobb
stayed up against the cushion and finally completed lap two. Hess went under
Kania on lap four to chase Lobb for the lead. Hackett was the next to put Kania
back a spot. Kania spun collecting several cars for caution number four. Six of
the thirty laps were complete. Hess charged into turn one and easily beat Lobb
out of two to become the new leader. Hess was extending his lead as Lobb had to
contend with a hard pressing Hackett. At the middle point of the race Hess led
Lobb and Hackett ten car lengths and began contending with lap traffic. Lobb was
able to put some distance between him self and Hackett but could not close with
Hess. Barton was the next to have problems with a spin in turn one. Six laps
remained. The top three remained the same with Dennis Lunger fourth and Doug Eck
fifth. Maloy and Pete Alspaugh tangled with Maloy ending up making hard contact
with the turn one concrete for caution six. Lobb fell to fourth on the restart
as Lunger grabbed third with three laps remaining. Hell took the white with a
five car length lead and held it to the checkers for his thirteenth Super Late
Model win at Stateline.
Chad
Carlson, Mike Moore and Chad Schauers were the early leaders of the Outlaw Cadet
feature. Brian Larson slowed bringing out the caution on lap four. Tyler Green
and Stan Davis brought out the second yellow on the restart. Schauers spun in
front of the field on lap four for caution three. Steve Kania was third for the
restart. Ryan Scott and John Cline brought out the yellow on the restart and
during the yellow Schauers left the speedway on the hook. Two laps after the
restart Kania was second and Glen Slaney third. Cline and Paul Himes brought out
caution five. Moore spun on the next circuit for caution six. Carlson, Kania,
Slaney, Kelly Frederes and Paul Norman Jr. were the leaders. Cline lost the
handle again with eleven laps in the books collecting Moore and Jake Finnerty
for caution number seven. The battle was for second as Carlson easily controlled
the top spot. Kania was able to hold off a relentless Slaney thought the final
laps for second.
Cale
Crocker led 30 E-Mods to Mark Matthews green flag. The first start was waived
off but the second attempt was successful. Crocker won the race to turn one and
the end of the first lap it was Crocker, Dave Shagla, Scott Gurdak and Vic Vena.
Three cars caused the second caution with two laps complete. Gurdak led at the
end of lap three with Crocker in tow, Shagla was third, last week’s winner Brent
Rhebergen fourth. A three car tangle caused caution three on lap seven. Steve
Huling, Jordan John and Anthony Marotto were the cars involved. Jaik Halpainy
spun on the restart for caution four. On the restart the yellow flew once more
and Gurdak pulled in to the pits with mechanical problems placing Crocker back
on top. The restart brought out caution six. Rhebergen moved up to challenge
Crocker and made the pass stick on lap nine. Then one lap later caution seven
occurred for a slowing John Boyd. Rhebergen, Dan Davies, Cale Crocker, Shagla
and Vena were the leaders. Davies powered by Rhebergen then caution eight
putting Rhebergen back in front. Officials called the race on the next caution
with just 11 laps completed awarding the win to Brent Rhebergen his second win
in a row.
The
front row for the Crate Late feature was Dennis Lunger and John Lacki the only
Crate drivers with wins in 2011. Several cars tangled coming out of turn two on
the second lap ending with Jr. Peters stopped on the edge of the speedway.
Lunger lost two spot on lap two as John Haggerty took second and Steve Dixon
third. Dixon crowded under Haggerty on lap five and set off after Lacki.
Haggerty lost the handle on lap seventeen and after the yellow flew several
other cars spun, two in turn one and two in turn four. After several attempts
Dixon had finally passed Lacki for the lead just before the last caution. Dixon,
Lacki, Chad Silleman, Lunger and Bob Dorman were the leaders. A nine car caution
occurred just after the restart as Dorman got sideways and the closely packed
field had no where to go. Nine cars remained for the final three laps of the
race. Silleman passed Lacki for second with two to go as Dixon finished
unchallenged.
Ben
Eckstrom and Dan Nocero Jr. charged by pole sitter Orville Edward on the first
circuit of the Super Sportsman feature. Nocero was the leader with Eckstrom
second. Ben Burgess Jr. grabbed second just before the first caution with five
lap complete. Wade Watson and Jake Eller brought out the second caution on the
restart. A late race caution bunched the field behind Nocero. Nocero was up to
the challenge easily beating Burgess and Joe Buccola Jr. to the finish.
