Saturday June 23rd, 2012 Busti, NY: Young and old enjoyed Autograph Night
at Stateline Speedway sponsored by Seamens Auto Wrecking. Candy, balloons, an RC
Car and several bicycles were given away.
Justin Tatlow made a green to checkers run for his second win in the Crate
Late Model feature.
Greg Oakes and Chad Valone put on a high speed exhibition in the Super Late
Model race with Oakes besting Valone with two laps remaining.
Steve Kania won his third Limited Late Model feature and Chris Ottaway came
from ninth for the runner up spot.
John Woodward survived several cautions leading all but the first circuit in
his second win of the season in the E-Mod division.
Wade Watson won his first Super Sportsman feature of the season besting point
leader Dan Nocero for the win.
Chris Withers showed why he has won all of the Street Stock features this
season in an unchallenged green to checkers run for win number seven.
Bill Baker Jr. won the Super Challenger feature.
Justin
Tatlow started off the pole in the Crate Late feature and led the first circuit.
Chad Silleman came from fourth for the runner up spot with pole sitter Ward
Schell third. At the end of the first five laps Tatlow was quickly catching the
field when the yellow flew for Jason Genco. Cody Mason failed to negotiate turn
one on the restart for yellow number two. Zack Carley was the next to have
problems with a half spin in turn four. Eight laps were complete. Bob Dorman was
third after the restart with Schell fourth. After lap ten Skip Jackson, Mason
and Wade Mohawk tangled for caution three. Caution four collected Dereck Frank,
Mark Thrasher and Brian Haggerty with thirteen laps completed. Tatlow was still
in control with Silleman second and Schell back in third and veteran John
Haggerty fourth. Tatlow won going away for his second win of the season.
Greg
Oakes and Chad Valone were on the front row of the Super Late Model feature and
Oakes led the first two circuits giving way to Valone on lap three. Dave Scott
moved up alongside Oakes on lap four and completed the pass two laps later then
on lap seven Scott got up into the marbles making hard contact with the turn one
concrete. Valone, Oakes, Andy Boozel, Scott Gurdak and Chris Hackett were the
restart leaders. Hackett passed Gurdak for fourth and Dick Barton was pressing
Gurdak for fifth. Gurdak lost the position to Barton on lap 13. Barton continued
advancing passing Hackett two laps later. The top three remained with Valone
firmly in control. Valone was pinned to the outside of the speedway while Oakes
went high in turns one and two and low thru three and four. Oakes’s strategy
worked with two to go passing Valone in turn four. Valone caught a piece of the
turn one wall on that lap losing two more spots but fought back over the final
two laps to finish second as Oakes got his first Stateline win.
Steve
Kania led the first five laps of the Limited Late Model feature. Tyler Green
caused the first caution. Kania, Jake Finnerty, Mike Moon, Dennis Asel and Ryan
Scott were the top five. Scott picked up two spots right after the restart and
Asel one as Moon fell to fifth. By lap ten Moon and Chris Ottaway had both
passed Asel and were contesting the fourth spot. Green had more problems for
yellow number two. Kania, Finnerty, Scott, Ottaway and Moon were the restart
leaders. Scott took second on the restart with Ottaway in tow. Finnerty was now
third. Scott slowed, pulling into the infield at the two to go signal moving
Ottaway to second. Kania cruised for the last two laps for his third win in
seven starts.
Greg
Johnson led the first lap of the E-Mod feature and John Woodard Jr. led the
second. John Boyd, Mike McGee, Steve Rex and Al Cressley brought out the first
yellow in a tangle in turn four with three laps complete. Woodward, Johnson and
Justin Carlson were the leaders. Randy Hall and Scott Gurdak caused yellow
number two on the restart. Two laps were completed then Gurdak and Al Cressley
caused caution three. Alex Froman caused caution three with seven laps complete.
Woodward, Johnson and Justin Carlson led with John Boardman fourth and John
Eschrich fifth. Boardman beat Justin Carlson for third with eleven laps complete
and a multi car incident left Butch Southwell facing the wrong way for caution
four. Kyle Bedell and John Boyd were also involved. Boardman charged by Johnson
on lap fourteen. Johnson stopped up against a track tire for yellow five.
Johnson was sent to the back for the restart. Woodward, Boardman, Eschrich and
Justin Carlson were the leaders. With five laps remaining Woodward led Boardman
by three car lengths and Boardman’s charge had ended. Chad Carlson lost a wheel
and slid down the back stretch concrete for caution six. Woodward won his second
of the season.
The
leaders, Dan Nocero Jr. and Ben Burgess Jr. tangled on the start of the Super
Sportsman feature but kept going as several cars stopped to avoid the leaders
who pulled away. Burgess was the leader after the restart then the yellow flew
for Jason Schumaker in turn four. Wade Watson became the new leader on the
restart. The race remained green for two more laps then Hank Francis stopped for
caution three. Watson nearly tangled with a lap car on lap seven then narrowly
missed Mike Genco who had spun in turn four. Nocero made an inside move to pass
Burgess after the restart for second and Watson led. Jake Eller stopped on the
speedway on the white flag lap setting up a one lap dash for the win. Watson was
up to the challenge winning his first of the season.
Todd
Bacon spun on the first lap of the Street Stock feature as Chris Withers led.
Jeremy Williams was second with Kyle Weilacher third. Withers was into lap
traffic on lap six then the yellow flew for Chery Sweet stopped in turn four.
Several cars tangled on the restart. Jeff Keith, Mike Brown, Jerry Fish and
James Britt were some of the cars involved. Jeffery Keith spun to a stop in turn
four for caution four with eight laps complete. Elaine Best lost a wheel in turn
four for caution five with twelve laps down. Withers showed why he has won all
of the Street Stock features this season in an unchallenged green to checkers
run for win number seven.
