: Bear Lake Inn sponsored the
events at Stateline Speedway which featured the Patriot Sprint Group. Chad
Valone won the Super Late Model King of the Hill event defeating Dave Lyon. Doug
Eck used the low groove and lap traffic to move from third in first in the Super
Late Model feature. Rich Swarthout started sixth and finished first for his
second career Sprint Car win. Swarthout took control on lap four. Rick Thompson
won the Spectator feature in convincing fashion. Jim Leonard led every lap of
the Budweiser Super Sportsman feature for his second win of the season as did
Lester Shoff in the Outlaw Cadets also winning his second. Justin Carlson passed
Quincy Turner on lap eight and survived several cautions for his second E-Mod
win of the season. Michelle Swabik won her third Lady Challenger feature after
an incident involving the early leader Tara Jordan. Paul Nelson won the first
Super Challenger feature and Kevin
Golden won the second.
Chuck Hebing and Brad Knab led the Patriot
Sprint Group onto the speedway and local race John Schuyler from Sugar Grove
started twelfth after winning heat number two. Knab move up against the fence
and led lap one but on lap two Hebing moved by then Knab used the crossover move
to regain the lead. Hebing spun on lap three collecting Bryan Howland and
Schuyler made hard contact with turn three wall. Knab, Geoff Quackenbush and
Rich Swarthout were the leaders for the lap four restart. Swarthout and Knab
battled for two laps with Swarthout coming out on top on lap five. Don Adamczyk
brought out the second caution with seven laps complete. At the half way point
Swarthout led Knab by nearly a straight away. Swarthout dominated the remainder
of the event winning by several car lengths over Knab and Quackenbush.
Matt Urban, Chad Valone, Doug Eck and Ted
Kosinski were the top four for the twenty-eight car Super Late Model feature
field. Valone led the first lap then a spin by Randy Lobb in turn one quickly
brought the field under the yellow. Valone, Urban, Kosinski and Eck were the
restart leaders. Urban moved to the front on the restart with Valone second and
Eck third. Dave Hess Jr. pulled into the infield on lap three and the race
remained green. Urban was into lap traffic on lap seven and Dick Barton was
challenging Kosinski for fourth. One lap later Barton moved by Kosinski as
Urban, Valone and Eck threaded through lap traffic. Eck used the low groove to
pass both Valone and Urban on lap thirteen. Barton pulled to stop in the infield
on lap fifteen. Eck remained low on the speedway and led by ten car lengths with
ten to go. Eck ran unchallenged through the remainder of the event for his
second win of the season.
Jamie Brown and John Mease were on the front
row of the Spectator feature with Rodney Thoms and Dave Surrena in row two. Stan
Davis swung wide on the start and took the lead on the backstretch of lap one
then lost the lead to Thoms in turn three. The first yellow flew for Jim Tucker
who had lost a wheel on the backstretch on lap two.
Davis
grabbed the lead on the restart and one more lap was completed before the
yellow flew for Mease who was stopped in turn three. Thoms was the leader after
the restart with
Davis
second followed by Rick Thompson and Clarence Dickerson. Spins by
Ryan Seekings
and Jeff Lamb brought out the third yellow with five complete. Thoms, Davis,
Thompson and Dickerson were the leaders for the lap six restart. Thoms remained
in control after the restart with Thompson moving by
Davis
for second then the yellow flew for Seekings. Thompson moved under Thoms on the
restart and coming out of turn four completed the pass for the lead and once
again the yellow flew for Lonnie Waldron. Glenn Slaney moved into second on the
restart as Thompson began building a lead over the rest of the field. Thoms had
slipped to a distant third. Rush Firestone made contact with Thoms forcing Thoms
to fourth. Thompson moved away from Slaney on the lap twelve restart and
continued to build his lead winning the event by several car lengths over Slaney
and Firestone.
Tim Nocero led the Budweiser Super Sportsman out for their feature event.
Jim Leonard started second and led lap one with Nocero second and John Boardman
third. Boardman and Nocero began contesting the second spot on lap three and
continued until Boardman pulled off the speedway on lap six. Chad Carlson took
Boardman’s spot than after several laps grabbed the runner up position on lap
nine. Leonard kept extending his lead as the race ran caution free through the
final laps. At the finish it was Leonard, Carlson and Ted Kosinski.
Lester Shoff led the first lap of the Outlaw
Cadet feature with Troy Dorman second and John Cline third.
Shoff caught the tail end of the field on lap seven as the race remained
under green. Cline lost the handle on lap eight nearly spinning coming out of
turn two losing several spots. Three laps later Paul Norman did the same in turn
four as Shoff led followed by Dorman and Nathan Short. Shoff completed the event
leading every lap for his second win of the season.
Quincy Turner got the jump on the start of
the E-Mod feature with Justin Carlson second. Carlson moved under Turner early
then settled back into second with Dan Nocero third and Dave Hess Jr. fourth.
Bret Van Guilder spun with six complete for the first yellow. Turner led the
restart lap then Carlson used the high side to power by Turner to lead lap
eight. The yellow flew on the next lap for Tom Hagberg and Greg Johnson.
Carlson, Turner and Hess were the leaders on the restart. Carlson quickly moved
away from Turner and Hess. Hagberg had more problems on lap twelve for the third
caution. The next restart was a repeat of the last as Carlson remained in
control. With five laps remaining Carlson led Turner by nearly a straight away
with Hess five car lengths back of Turner. A lap eighteen spin by Derek Frank,
Chan Silleman and Johnson brought out the yellow. The first restart of lap
eighteen was waived off by starter Mark Matthews and on the second Turner
managed to get under Carlson in turn two but Carlson was able to move away from
Turner coming out of turn two. Carlson led the final two laps getting his second
feature win of the season.
Paul Nelson grabbed the lead at the end of lap one of the first Super
Challenger feature with Mike Genco second and Rod Birt third. Jay Seekings moved
by Birt for third on lap seven. The yellow flew for car stalled in turn one with
two laps remaining. Nelson held on for the win his first.
Derrick Dickerson, Jimmy Hahn and Sam
Courson were the early leaders in the second Super Challenger feature. Hahn
passed Dickerson on lap five after a lengthy caution then gave way to Kevin
Golden with two laps to go.
