: Beautiful weather welcomed fans and racers on opening night at Stateline Speedway. The double point event was sponsored by the
House of Television.
Chad Valone bested George LaBarbera in the Budweiser King of the Hill four lap dash. Bill Reeves made a late race pass to win the Spectator feature event.
Nathan Short led every lap of the Outlaw Cadet feature. Chad Carlson lost the lead then regained it because of late race caution to win the Super
Sports
man feature. Mike Knight beat 2006 Super Late Model Champion Dick Barton and veteran Doug Eck to win his first Super Late Model feature event. Carl McKinney held on through a
caution strewn E-Mod feature for his win. Rick Karash and Jim Mescall won the Super Challenger features. The Lady Challenger feature was won by Amanda Swanson.
After the heats and pill draw
Darrell Bossard started on the pole for the House of Television Super Late Model feature event. Ted Kosinski stated outside of Bossard with Andy Boozel and Rich Gardner in row two.
Bossard grabbed the early lead with Kosinski and Boozel. Kirk Bradley spun collecting George LaBarbera for the first caution with two laps complete. Kosinski ended up nosed into
the turn two wall collecting Rod Maloy and Chad Valone for caution number two immediately after the restart. Valone and Maloy joined the rear of the field for the restart. Mike
Knight fought by
Brossard
on the restart lap then one lap later Dick Barton also passed Bossard. Knight and Barton broke away from the pack. Barton made his move on lap eight passing Knight just before the
finish line. The yellow flew for Chevy Scott on lap nine. John Lobb charged by Boozel on the restart lap then Doug Eck decided to become a player passing Lobb for the number three
spot on lap eleven. Knight returned the favor passing Barton on lap fifteen regaining the number one spot. Lobb had a right rear flat bringing out the caution with sixteen laps
complete. Knight, Barton, Eck, Maloy and Boozel were the top five for the restart. Barton stayed low giving Knight the high line after the restart and Knight took advantage leading
Barton to the lap twenty yellow sending all of the cars except the top three to the pits. Knight, Barton and Eck remained lining three wide. Eck got he jump leading the first lap
as Knight and Barton fought for second. Barton passed Eck in turn two then Knight took the lead with two laps remaining. Knight held the two veterans off to become the first Super
Late Model winner for 2007.
Justin Tatlow and Bill Reeves led
the Spectator division to the speedway for their first feature of the 2007 season. Tatlow led the first lap with Reeves second and Buzz Phearsdorf third. The race remained green
through the first five laps with the top three moving away from the pack. Phearsdorf used lap traffic to grab the lead from Tatlow on lap six. Phearsdorf car began smoking two laps
later then al lap ten flat ended his run at the front. Reeves and Tatlow resumed their battle for the top spot with Reeves coming out on top with three laps to go as Tatlow lost
the handle in turn three bringing out the first caution of the event. A last lap caution allowed the field to close with Reeves setting up a one lap dash for the win. Reeves held
on for the win with Gary Fisher grabbing second at the checkers.
Nathan Short led the opening lap of the Outlaw Cadet feature with
Steve Moynihan second and Mike Moore third. Nathan Short had his way until lap ten with Moynihan caught an nearly passed the leader. Moynihan fell back after the challenge allowing
Short to win by several car lengths.
Chad Carlson started from the pole in the Super
Sports
man feature and quickly jumped into the lead. A lap six incident ended with Mike Kosinski backed into the turn two concrete missing a right front wheel for the first caution of the
event. Carlson remained in control after the restart with Bob Hazzard and second. Steve Kania grabbed third on lap six then the yellow flew for Bryan Ester on lap eight. Hazzard
made a lap six pass to take control then the yellow flew setting the lineup back a lap putting Carlson back in front. Kania caught Hazzard on lap ten for the runner up spot. Kania
could not close with the leader as the laps wore down. Carlson beat Kania to the finish line by three car lengths.
Twenty eight E-Mods started their feature with Tim Peterson and Shawn
McArdle on the front row. Dennis Lunger and Car McKinney were in row two. A first lap incident collected several cars including Tom Hagberg, Ron Seeley, Dave Lyon, and Ed Carley.
Peterson led the first lap after the restart then the yellow flew for Greg Johnson in turn three. Jamie Schnars, Dave Lyon, Dana
Wellington
tangled on lap three for the third yellow in as many laps. Justin Carlson lost the handle on the restart collecting three cars for caution four.
McKinney
took the top spot setting Peterson back to second then the yellow flew on lap six for Scott Gurdak.
McKinney
, Peterson, Rich Michael, Ed Carley and Chad Ramsey were the restart leaders.
McKinney
had a ten car advantage at the completion of nine laps when the yellow flew for Quincy Turner, Chris Couchenour and Kyle Bedell. Two more laps were completed when debris brought
out the caution.
McKinney
, Peterson, Johnson, Carlson and Michael were the leaders. Hagberg recovered from the first incident of the race to move into fourth. Turner slowed the race once more with fifteen
laps complete.
McKinney
ran the final five laps unchallenged with early leader Peterson second.
