August 22nd, 2009 - Rob Blair Wins Lynn Seamens Super Late Model Memorial at Stateline Speedway

By Glenn Slocum

Busti, NY: Rain clouds narrowly missed the Speedway for the third attempt to run the American Racer Roberts Trucking Lynn Seamens Super Late Model Memorial. Thirty-eight Super Late Models were on hand to try for one of the 24 starting spots and the $10,000 first place prize. Dave Hess Jr. won the Super Late Consolation race from his pole starting spot. The forty lap event was marred by a line nine incident which removed four cars from the field. Rob Blair started on the pole and led every lap to win the biggest first place prize in Stateline Speedways history.

Rich Michael Jr. led from green to checkers in a caution filled E-Mod feature for his first win of the season.

Brandon Groters came from fifteenth to win his fourth Spectator feature of the season. John Boardman won his ninth Super Sportsman feature.

Chad Carlson survived a soft right front tire to win his third Outlaw Cadet feature.

Tabetha Houser won her third Lady Challenger feature.

Jimmy Diabo won the first Super Challenger feature and Joshua Beckstrom won the second.

Brian Wilson was the early Spectator feature leader with John Britt second and Jason Seekings third. A lap three yellow momentarily slowed the field and Britt grabbed the lead on the restart. Brandon Groters was quickly up to second on lap five then took the lead in turn three to complete lap six. Britt was second with Mat Harvey third. Groters caught the tail end of the field just as the yellow flew for a slow moving Gary Fisher, nine laps were complete. Damon Lewis grabbed third on the restart the lap was complete but the yellow flew for Chad Schauers. One more lap was completed and the yellow reappeared this time for Dave Tackett Jr.. Lewis entered the pits during the restart and joined the field at the tail. Damian Bidwell moved to second on the restart and as the two to go signal appeared a three car incident brought the race under caution once more. Groters ran the final two laps after the restart without a challenge for his fourth win of the season.

The first lap of the Super Sportsman feature ended under yellow for Mike Genco and Steve Kania. Ron Burgun was the leader. John Boardman drove under Burgun coming out of turn four on lap two and became the new leader half way down the front stretch. Boardman easily out distanced the field and led by a full straight with ten laps complete. Dan Nocero Jr. was second from his thirteenth starting spot. Boardman finished out in front for his ninth win of the season.

Rob Blair and Mike Knight were on the front row for Lynn Seamens Memorial with Doug Ricotta and Ron Davies in row two. Blair won the dash to turn one with Knight and Ricotta fighting for second. John Lobb was fourth with Scott Johnson fifth. Ron Davies was sixth and Bruce Hordusky seventh. Davies was right up against the fence taking fifth from Johnson. A major incident with nine laps complete brought out the first caution of the event. Matt Urban, Wally Fox, Jason Dupont and Andy Boozel were involved in the back stretch incident. All four were unable to continue. Chris Hackett, Dave Hess Jr. and Boom Briggs all went into the pits during the caution and had to start at the rear of the field. Blair, Knight, Ricotta, Lobb and Davies were the leaders for the lap ten restart. Blair remained the race leader when the green returned. Davies fell back to sixth with Johnson taking his fifth spot. Briggs did a half spin between turns three and four for the second caution of the event collecting Rod Maloy with fourteen laps in the book. Scott Gurdak went into the pits during the caution to returned to the rear of the field. The green was followed by the yellow as Pete Alspaugh was stopped facing the wrong direction in turn two. Doug Eck slapped the wall two laps later and Briggs spun to avoid him for caution four. Hordusky was caution five with eighteen laps complete. Davies was up contesting third with Ricotta after the restart as Blair walked away from the field. With ten laps to go Blair had and straight away lead on Knight with Davies third followed by Ricotta, Johnson, Lobb, Chad Valone and Gurdak. Lap traffic became a factor on lap thirty one. Knight was unable to close with Blair as they both worked heavy lap traffic. Johnson passed Davies for third with two. Blair finished as he started in the number one spot.

Rich Michael Jr. grabbed the early lead in the E-Mod feature. The first caution of the event occurred on lap six for Anthony Marotto backed into the turn one fence. Mike Eschrich was second followed by Brian Fardink and Chris Couchenour. The second yellow was one lap later for Randy Raynor and Derrick Middleton. Yellow three occurred on the restart as Couchenour and Jason Genco tangled. One more lap was run then caution four involving five cars. With nine laps complete Dave Shagla, Kevin Decker and Mike Munsee tangled for caution five. A six car entanglement caused caution six with ten laps complete. Eschrich lost several spots on the restart moving Fardink up to second and Tim Rockwell to third. Mike McGee stopped on the speedway for caution seven. With two to go John Kelsey tangled with track tire for the caution eight and on the restart Shagla spun for caution nine. Michaels finally saw the checkers for his first win of the season.

Kelly Frederes led the first circuit of the Outlaw Cadet feature with Glen Slaney and Chad Carlson second and third. Point leader Mike Moore was fourth and Paul Norman Jr. fifth. The yellow appeared for Brian Larson with six laps complete. Bryan Johnson stopped facing the wrong way on the restart for the second caution. Carlson moved under Frederes on the restart and one lap later completed the pass to become the new race leaders and Moore took third. Frederes lost second to Moore on lap eleven. Just as head starter Mark Matthews was preparing to gibe the two to go signal Johnson, John Kline and Mike Lozowski tangled for caution three. The leader break checked on the restart causing Adam Hilyer to spin for caution four. Leonard Enos had trouble on the restart for caution five. A soft right front slowed the leader allowing Moore to temporarily get by but Moore went high in the final corner allowing Carlson to regain the lead for his third win of the season.
