Busti, NY: Austin Fitzgerald came from seventeenth to win the House of Television Super Challenger
Special. Chris Hackett passed Randy Lobb late in the Super Late Model feature for his first win of the season and was the fourth different winner in the division. Kevin Golden took
the lead from Damian Bidwell on lap nine of the Spectator feature for his first win of the season. John Boardman got his third win in the Super Sportsman division. Glen Slaney won
the Outlaw Cadet feature his first of the season. Justin Carlson survived several cautions and a heated battle with Dave Shagla for his first E-Mod win of the season. Stephanie
Hilyer won her third Lady Challenger feature.
Brian Wilson and Rob Brown led the
Spectators onto the speedway for the Spectator feature event. Brown led the first circuit with Damian Bidwell and Wilson fighting for the runner up spot. Just as the first lap
ended Mike Moon made hard contact with the front stretch wall causing the first caution of the evening. Bidwell won the race to turn one on the restart and became the new leader.
Several cars tangled including Lester Shoff, Jason Seekings and Clarence Dickerson for yellow number two with three laps complete. Bidwell reestablished his lead after the restart
with Kevin Golden second. Yellow three occurred for Chad Schauers with five laps complete. Two laps later Schauers backed into the back stretch wall and Dave Tackett Jr. spun in
turn four for yellow four followed quickly by yellow five for a multi-car incident in turn one on the restart. Seekings spun for caution six on the restart. Bidwell led lap eight
then lost the lead to Golden on lap nine. Bidwell continued losing spots as Kyle Bradigan and Damon Lewis both passed him. Golden won the event for his first of the season.
Bob Hazzard was the early Super
Sportsman leader with Justin Devereaux second and Pete Volpe third. Volpe charged to the front to lead lap three. A tangle collected Mike Genco, Justin Devereaux, Dan Francis and
Jake Eller during lap four for yellow number one in the fifteen lap event. Just nine of the fourteen starters remained. Volpe was out front by several car lengths when he lost the
handle in turn two causing caution number two. Steve Kania assumed the lead with Ben Burgess second and John Boardman third. Boardman was in front at the line with Joe Buccola
second and Burgess third. At the half way point Boardman was leading by half a straight away. Buccola was able to close with Boardman but not able to mount a challenge giving
Boardman his third win of the season.
Adam Hilyer brought out the yellow on the first
lap of the Outlaw Cadet feature then Brad Strickland brought out the second yellow on the restart. Glen Slaney led lap one the third yellow occurred for Strickland and David Marrs.
Slaney. Mike Moore and Steve Moynihan were the lap two leaders. The debris slowed the race for yellow four. Three green flag laps were completed before next caution for Strickland
stopped in turn two. Hilyer stopped in the exit of turn two for caution six. Slaney cruised through the final laps for his first win of the season.
Chevy and Ryan Scott were on the
front row for the Super Late feature. Chevy led the first circuit trailed by Ryan Scott and Randy Lobb. Lobb was second on lap three then muscled under Chevy Scoot on lap six take
the lead. Chris Hackett joined the battle for second with seven laps complete. Hackett led Chevy Scott by a nose at the end of lap nine just before Chevy spun into the infield in
turn one for the first yellow of the event. Hackett trailed Lobb on the restart. One lap latter the yellow appeared for a slowing Dennis Lunger. Lobb, Hackett, Ryan Scott, John
Volpe and Bump Hedman were the restart leaders. Dick Barton joined the five car battle for third and Lobb and Hackett extended their lead. An incident collected Scott Gurdak for
the third yellow and Doug Eck was sent to the rear of the field for aggressive driving. Lobb remained on the point as Hackett, Volpe, Maloy and Barton trailed. Hackett made his
move on lap twenty one to lead for the first time in the race. Hackett took the win his first of the season.
Steve Huling brought out the first
yellow in the E-Mod feature on lap two as Dave Shagla, Gary Fisher ant Mike Munsee led. Troy Car and Ron Seeley had problems on the restart for caution two. Heavy traffic at the
front after the restart caused caution three with Rich Michael Jr. spun into the infield. Shagla remained as the leader with Justin Carlson second and Fisher third. Alex Froman
took third from Fisher after the restart. Shane Crotty spun in turn four for the caution four. Yellow five happened after lap nine as Mike Munsee spun collecting Froman. Randy
Raynor spun on the restart for yellow six. Carlson took the lead and the seventh yellow flew this time for Michael McGee. Michaels came from last moving into the top three with ten
laps complete. Lap thirteen saw yellow number eight for Anthony Marotto. Carlson and Shagla made contact in turn one with two go and Shagla broke a tie rod ending his bid for the
win. Carlson, Tim Rockwell and Rich Michael were the restart leaders. Carlson held on for his first of the season.
Chris Byrne did a half roll on the
first lap of the Super Challenger Special bringing out the red flag before a lap was finished. Doug Moore came from seventh to lead the first lap of the event then lost lead to
Austin Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald had started seventeenth. Roger Hall and Randy Beckstrom were second and third with Robert Hallowell fourth and Dana Haner fifth. Fitzgerald handily
won the race his first for 2009. After the checkers Hall made hard contact with concrete wall in front of the flag stand.
