April 26th, 2008 - Dick Barton wins Craiger Race Engines Super Late
Model Feature
at Stateline Speedway

Busti, NY: Craiger Race Engines sponsored "Back to the 60’s" night at Stateline Speedway. A mid afternoon rain storm cleared before race time setting up
excellent track conditions and but a cool night for the race fans.
Chad Valone narrowly defeated Doug Eck in the Super
Late Model King of the Hill. Ryan Seekings won a rough caution strewn Spectator feature from his second starting spot. Bob Hazzard led every lap of the Super Sportsman event for
his first win of the season. Dick Barton moved one win closer to Bobby Schnars all time record of seventy-nine getting number seventy-two in the Super Late Model feature. Barton
passed last weeks winner Boom Briggs with five laps remaining then held off Mike Knight at the checkers for the win. The top three tangled on the final lap of the Outlaw Cadet
feature placing Brian Crandall in the top spot. Randy Hall won his second in a row in the E-Mod division passing Nate Short just short of the half way mark.

Hilyer won the Lady Challenger feature.
Casey Burch and
Jamie Hebner were the Super Challenger winners.
Jermin Strickland and Ryan Seekings were on the
Spectator feature front row with Pat Landy and Chris Ward in row two. Seekings led the first circuit with Stickland and Pat Landy contesting the number two spot. Strickland grabbed
the lead on lap two just be for the yellow flew for two cars stopped on the backstretch. Seeking took over after the restart. A lap seven yellow was thrown for Buzz Phearsdorf and
Chad Schauers stopped in turn four. Seekings, Strickland, Alex Froman and Jamie Brown were the restart leaders. Gary Fisher set Brown back a spot on the restart. Three laps were
complete before the next yellow flew for Shayne Erhard. A yellow immediately followed the restart green for debris on the front stretch. Chris Withers joined the top three after
the restart then Kevin Golden brought out the yellow once more with a spin in turn four. Fisher and Strickland tangled on the restart returning the yellow flag. Seekings remained
the leader with Withers second Froman third and Mike Moon fourth. Fisher’s car required the wrecker to leave the speedway and Strickland tagged the field. Seekings and Withers made
contact on the backstretch. Withers ended up nosed into the wall collecting several cars including Brian Graham, Moon, Phearsdorf and Anthony Marotto. Moon was the only car
involved able to continue. Seekings ran the final two laps unchallenged for his first win of the season.
Bob Hazzard led lap one of the Super Sportsman
feature with Bob Van Arsdale second. Ben Burgess brought out the first caution of the event with three laps complete. Hazard was leading at the half way mark when the second yellow
flew for Jim Leonard nosed into the back stretch wall. Kelly Frederes brought out the third yellow on the restart. Hazzard, Tim Nocero and Chris Kuschel led after the restart. John
Boardman, last weeks feature winner joined the fray on lap nine then the yellow flew for Ben Reed stopped just off the front stretch. Four laps remained in the event. Nocero slowed
on the restart losing several spots and Boardman and Kuschel fought for second. Boardman slowed to a stop with two laps remaining putting Joe Buccola Jr. into the third spot.
Hazzard won the event leading every lap.
Last weeks Super Late Model winner Boom Briggs was in
the number one spot for the Super Late Model feature. Twenty-seven of the scheduled twenty-nine cars took the green with Chris Hackett on the outside pole, Mike Knight and Matt
Urban in row two, Scott Johnson and Doug Eck in row three and Rich Gardner and Dick Barton in row four. Briggs led into turn one but trailed Knight by a car length at the end of
the lap one. Rueben Schwartz brought out the first yellow on lap two. Knight led lap three followed by Briggs, Hackett and Johnson. Darrell Bossard spun on the front stretch
collecting Chad Ruhlman in a hard crash to stop the event with seven laps complete. Both drivers were okay but both racecars suffered heavy front-end damage. Dick Barton grabbed
fourth using the cushion on lap eight then third on lap eleven. Peter Mantha and Ryan Scott brought out the third yellow with ten laps complete. Briggs powered by Knight on the
restart to lead leap twelve then two laps later Barton tried the same move. Barton finally made the pass stick on lap sixteen. Barton remained in the high groove to take the lead
from Briggs on lap nineteen. Barton was into lap traffic on lap twenty when a yellow flew for John Lobb who had slowed to a stop on the front stretch. Five laps remained with
Barton, Briggs, Knight, Hackett and Doug Eck in the top five. Briggs jumped the cushion on the restart slapping the turn one wall then pulling into the pits as the fifth yellow
flew. Barton controlled the restart moving up to the high side once more with Knight low. Barton led by five car lengths as the white flew. Greg Johnson and Mantha brought out the
final yellow setting up a one-lap dash for the win. Barton won the event for career win seventy-two.
Brian Crandall led the first two laps of the Outlaw
Cadet event. The first yellow occurred with two laps complete for car stopped in turn four. Chris Ottaway stopped for the second yellow with five laps complete. Kelly Frederes led
with Greg Fenno second and Mike Moore third. With ten laps complete Frederes led Fenno by four cars lengths. Fenno charged under Frederes as the two to go signal was given.
Frederes, Fenno and Moore all tangled on the final lap bringing out the yellow and sending the top three to the tail of the field for the final lap. Crandall, Steve Moynihan and
Paul Norman Jr. were the new top three. Crandall cruised to the win his first of the season.
Nathan Short and Vic Vena were on the front row of
the E-Mod feature. Short led the first lap but lap two ended after Tim Peterson, Chuck Frye and Chuck Hart tangled in turn three for yellow number one. Short led lap two with Randy
Hall, last weeks winner, second. Short tagged the wall in turn two on lap four collecting Jack Young for the second caution. Short did not stop and he was placed back into the top
spot while Young was placed at the end of field. Hall tested Short during the next two laps then the yellow appeared for Rick Loomis slowing on the front stretch. Short, Hall, Rick
Michael Jr. were the top three. Quincy Turner passed Michael on the restart as Hall chased Short for the lead. Justin Tatlow spun into the infield causing caution four. Hall waited
for one lap after the restart than moved under short to lead lap nine. Michaels was third with Turner fourth and Carlson fifth. Michaels moved high pressing Short for second.
Michael finally made the pass stick on lap sixteen as Hall began working lap traffic. With seventeen laps complete Vena spun in turn one for the fifth caution. Turner spun
collecting Vena and Steve Dixon on the restart putting Short third, Carlson fourth and Greg Johnson fifth. Just as the leaders took the white flag Turner, Vena and T.J. Downs
tangled for caution six. Hall remained in control winning his second of the season.
