2009 SUPER SPORTSMAN RULES
 

CAR BODIES AND FRAMES  Make your own, but limit it to the width of your rear wheels. Cars may be built with an offset, in fact, it will be easier to mount the steering and pedals with a 6” to 8” offset.  Must have a roof.  Frames must be 2” x 3” rectangular tubing, full length of car. FOUR DOOR BARS ARE MANDATORY ON EACH SIDE.  Frame must be cross-braced under driver.  1 ½” bar from top hoop to door bar on each side mandatory. Any wheel base.  Wings are optional.

INTERIOR  Floor area behind drivers seat must be at least 1/8” aluminum or steel to protect driver from blown motor.

FRONT SUSPENSION  Lower A-Frame must be made from stock junkyard parts. Top may be tubular. Steel coil-overs may be used. Front cross-member can be either stock or home made. Aluminum shocks are permitted.

REAR SUSPENSION Must be made from standard production struts. Steel shocks may be added. Coil-overs are permitted. No adjustable hydraulics. No adjustable shocks.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION Engine must be a 2.8, 3.1, or 3.4 side to side. Rear mounted similar to Pontiac Fiero. No fuel injections, electric fuel pumps or pressurized fuel systems.  Any 2 barrel carburetor is allowed. Gasoline only as fuel.  Transmission can either be standard or automatic, but must have working front and rear gears. You must have a working starter and only one battery.

TIRES AND WHEEL Tire rule in effect. 13” tires and 8” wheels only

RADIATOR May be mounted in either the front or rear

BRAKES must have four wheel brakes in working order

FUEL AND FUEL CELL  Gasoline only as fuel with an 8 gallon fuel cell. Electric fuel pumps permitted with electric disconnect.

SEAT BELTS Five point racing seat belt with arm restraints mandatory

WINDSHIELD must be ½” wire mesh screen. A 6”x6” metal plate to be welded to the top passenger side of windshield area is mandatory with your car number on it

FIRE AND SAFETY Driver side window nets are mandatory. You must have a fully charged fire extinguisher that is accessible from both the inside and outside of the car. Fire suits are mandatory.

SAFETY RULES You must have tow hooks or chains on the front and rear of car.
