2009 OUTLAW CADET RULES

COMPETING MODELS Any car sold in America. No vans station wagons or compact cars.

CAR BODIES  Any body on any car. All glass except windshield must be removed. Manufactured nose piece allowed. Drivers side window net mandatory. Area above rear bumper and deck lid must be filled in with metal.

BRAKES  Disc brakes allowed on front and rear. Dual master cylinder with balance bar allowed. ELECTRICAL Any single point distributor or original equipment distributor permitted in any year. Self-starter must be in working order, with only one battery permitted. Battery may be moved if securely fastened and covered with metal, and not placed in driver’s compartment.

FUEL SYSTEM No electrical fuel pumps and no pressure tanks. Any single or dual feed 4 barrel carb allowed. Fuel cell must be securely mounted in the trunk area above the frame. Safety type gas cap mandatory. A good  firewall must be installed between the driver and the fuel tank. FUEL CELLS MANDATORY. Any size tank allowed. Radiator must be under hood. EXHAUST must be directed to outside of car and away from driver, not straight to the ground

ROLL BARS Four post roll cage mandatory with a minimum 1 ˝” pipe welded to frame. Top bars on cage have to be near level position above driver’s head. Cage must be cross-braced. Four 1 ˝’ door bars must be on  driver’s side. Passenger’s door must have 3. Minimum wall thickness of tubing must be .083. Minimum 4” triangular gussets required on all corners.

FRONT FIREWALL & INTERIOR must be 16 gauge steel or 1/8” aluminum. All holes between engine and the driver’s compartment must be sealed.  Cockpit type interiors may be used. No mirrors. Floor and tunnel by driver and drive shaft must be 16 gauge steel or 1/8” aluminum. SEATS racing seats only. Head rest mandatory. 5 point lap and shoulder racing belt in good condition mandatory.

FRAME 1/8’ wall manufactured square tubing frames permitted. Frames must be 10” circumference and with no off-sets (ex 2”x3”). Frame under driver must be cross-braced and no holes may be cut to lighten frame. Rectangular or square frame only. Roll cage must go out on both frames. Fabricated floors may be used, but must be solid. GM cars must have full GM stub, Fords must have a Ford stub, etc. 20” of stub behind center of spring pocket and 18” in front. Any production front stub.

FRONT SUSPENSION must be stock. Extra shocks permitted. NO ADJUSTABLE  SHOCKS. NO ADJUSTABLE GAS OR HYDRAULIC SHOCKS.. All wheels must have a minimum 9/16” diameter studs. Fords may use a Ford front frame, GM any FM front frame, etc. but no uni-body frames. Stock appearing. Chrysler products may use Ford or GM front suspension. REAR END & SUSPENSION Any 5 or 6 bolt pattern passenger car or truck rear end permitted. Any homemade rear end suspension may be used.

ENGINE must remain in stock position. Any GM allowed in GM car, Ford engine in Ford car, etc. No aluminum engines or heads. No dry sump. No belt driven fuel or oil pumps.

TRANSMISSION & CLUTCH Any standard or automatic transmission allowed. Racing transmissions allowed. Bell housing must be covered with scatter shield All cars must be able to move forward and backward. Safety strap or loop around drive shaft mandatory.

TIRES & WHEELS Track tire rule in effect. Wheels may be any stock or racing 14” or 15” wheel. All wheels must be reinforced. Oversized lug nuts minimum of 9/16” are mandatory. No aluminum or plastic wheels. Bead locks are permitted. Cadet specified tires from American Racer. Maximum 10” wide wheel..

IDENTIFICATION All numbers must be at least 25” high, painted on both front doors and roof, readable from score tower. Place a 6”x6” metal plate in the upper passenger side windshield area with number on it. Number must also be placed on the back of the car.

WINGS/SPOILERS No wings allowed. 8” rear spoiler allowed. No Plexiglas in side or rear back windows.

FORD OR CHRYSLER ENGINES MAY BE INSTALLED IN A CHEVY FRONT STUB, HOWEVER IF YOU USE A FORD OR CHRYSLER ENGINE, THE BODY MUST MATCH IT.
