RACE RECEIVERS MANDATORY FOR 2012 CAR BODIES AND FRAMES Old race frames may be used, must be at least 2"x3" rectangular tubing. Car must be stock appearing and have a full floor in cockpit area. Driver’s door must welded shut, all others welded, bolted or chained. Chrome and glass must be removed. NO MIRRORS. Uni-body cars must have 2"x3" tubing connecting the front stub to rear frame rails. Aluminum or steel bodies permitted. 4"spoiler permitted. The nose and tail must be fully rounded and not squared off. No squared quarter panels. FULL BODY CARS. INTERIORS Driver’s seat must have headrest. THE FLOOR MUST BE STEEL or, ALUMINUM 1/8" thick WITH HOOP OVER DRIVE SHAFT TUNNEL. BUMPERS Cars must have a grille in reasonable shape. Front and rear bumpers must have extra chains or straps around them to prevent loss and include a tow chain. CARS MUST HAVE FRONT AND REAR BUMPER. Rubber or hard plastic nose and tail mandatory. Must be stock appearing. WINDSHIELDS All cars must have ½" wire mesh screen, covering full windshield area. A solid bar from roll cage down to dash area where windshield would be is mandatory.. A 6"x 6" metal plate welded to the top passenger side of windshields is mandatory with your car number . ROLL BARS You must have a 4-post roll cage. Minimum wall thickness of 0.125 and1 ½’ in diameter. All corners must be gusseted. Four door bars on driver’s side and 3 door bars on passenger’s side mandatory. ROLL CAGE MUST EXTEND ABOVE DRIVER’S HEAD. SUSPENSION must remain as manufactured. Heavy-duty parts may be used if they were available for that car. ALL SPRINGS MUST BE IN STOCK POSITION. Racing shocks may be used to replace original. Extra shocks may be added. NO coil-overs. Weight jacks are permitted. No J bars, balance bar, etc. Aluminum suspension parts in front okay. Steel bodied shocks only. NO GAS SHOCKS. No wrap-up shocks. No snubber bars. PAINTING & LETTERING All cars must be neat in appearance and neatly lettered. Numbers must look like numbers, be at least 24" high, and pre registered to avoid duplicates. Numbers must be on both side front doors and on the roof, visible from the score tower. Car number must also be placed on the rear of the car. SEAT BELTS & HELMETS A 5-point racing seat and shoulder belt in good condition is mandatory and must be securely installed. Helmets must be ASA or SNELLING approved. No ‘shorty’ helmets. Driver’s window net is mandatory. TIRES AND WHEELS All tires must have tread on them. Reinforced wheels are mandatory. Maximum width 10" wheel. Over-sized lug nuts, minimum of 9/16" are mandatory. Tires may be grooved. Only designated American Racer Tires may be used. Bead locks allowed. ENGINES Any GM engine in any GM car, Ford engine in Ford car, etc. Engine must be left stock and in stock position for that car. Only factory intakes or Victor junior permitted. 2 Barrel carbs only. Exhaust must extend to outside of car and not straight down to the ground. Roller cams or rockers may be used. No aluminum blocks or heads REAR DISC BRAKES ALLOWED. GAS TANKS must have 3 metal safety straps, welded frame to frame or have tank mounted in trunk on a platform welded to the frames. All cars must have a steel OR 1/8" ALUMINUM firewall between the gas tank and drivers compartment. Fuel cells are recommended. Fuel cell protective hoop is mandatory. Racing gas caps are mandatory. DRIVESHAFTS & ELECTRICAL All drive shafts must have a safety strap, chain or loop around them in case of loss. Battery may be put in the trunk if manufactured fuel cell is used and must be in an enclosed metal container. No batteries in driver’s compartment. BELL HOUSING MUST HAVE SCATTER SHIELD. TRANSMISSIONS Must have forward & reverse. Clutch: No direct drive. Multi disc is permitted. No couplers. SAFETY RULES Fire suit must be worn. You must have a fully charged fire extinguisher that is accessible from both inside and outside of the car. You must have a tow hook or chain on the front and rear of car.
